Sometimes the finishing touch on your outfit of latest fashion trends is much more important than the clothes. If your skin is dark, don’t choose bright or light nail polish colors, as they’ll look unnatural. Go for deep red or deep pink.

The only tip is to match it with your outfit. It doesn’t have to be of the same color as your dress, but you shouldn’t look like ghost from 1960s as well.

Nail Myths

There are so many opinions that say long nails, biting habits and the nail polish are very bad for your health and damage your nail care. Others are sure that they have nothing to do with the nail health, if you pay attention to your nail care.

After a lot of research I found out that they are not only neutral to your health, but in some cases can be even helpful.

Let’s start from one of the main nail problems — nail biting. I had a friend, who thought that her nails stopped growing, because she had been biting them for years. And I have heard this story from many others. However, it turns out that the only part of the nail that is responsible for the nail growth is the base. The nail, more specifically the protein it consists of, hardens as it grows. If you bite only the edges of your nails, not damaging the base, your nails will grow as they always did.

Interestingly, there are problems with a long nail care as well. If someone ever says they damage the quality of your nail, they most probably don’t know what they’re talking about. Long nails are OK, if you keep the measure and take a good nail care. Keep the length of the nail in accordance with your finger length and your lifestyle. If you do a lot of housework, including dish washing, keep your nails short, as they can be damaged from the chemicals. They are also a great carrier of bacterias, therefore, remember to wash your nails after you’ve touched publicly-available places, like doorknobs, keyboard and so on. After all, the longer the nail is, the easier it is to break.

Another “nail-myth” is having acrylic nails. They will never harm your natural nail care, if:

• the salon you attended uses unsanitary tools. This is a potential “invitation” for bacterias, which will cause an infection.

• the acrylic nail is cracked or jarred. The space created between the acrylic and natural nail saves the moisture and, again, attracts the bacteria.

• their date is expired. After some period of time you have to either refresh or remove the acrylic nails. This can result in an infection.

Other than that, acrylic nails won’t harm your health. Moreover, they look very beautiful, especially if they have nail polish colors and nail designs on them.

This were the most popular nail-myths. Don’t believe the people’s exaggeration, but before growing beautiful nails, it’s much safer and more-consuming to consult a dermatologist.

Nail Polish Colors- Long or Short

We usually follow the latest fashion trends, and if, for example, black nail polish is in fashion in that season, then it’s time to go to the store really quickly and get one. But sometimes we get disappointed, when the nail polish colors don’t look so gorgeous on us, as they do on fashion models.

To make a choice between nail polish colors is even more difficult. There’s also another thing that will make your choice limited — the length of your nails.

If you have long nails, you probably worked hard on growing them. Now you have to work equally hard to keep them pretty with the right nail polish color. Owners of long nails should go for light colors, like pink, cream and all the other light shades. Dark nail polish colors emphasize the nails too much, thus making your hand seem a little manly, while the equation of long nails and light colors makes a very delicate hand.

French manicure is another variant. Although it suits to any outfit, it takes too much time.

When applying nail polish on long nails, make sure you have a smooth surface, as the longer and broader the nail is, the more difficult it is to have a shiny nail polish surface.

If you have short nails, your job is easier. You don’t have to be extremely attentive to have a smooth surface, because the nail polish on short nails almost always looks perfect. My fashion advice to you is — wear dark nail polish colors. If the latest fashion trends dictate blue for nail polishes, choose a dark shade. Chocolate brown and dark gray are other nail polish colors that look fantastic on short nails. Short nails are a plus, if you like wearing red nail polish of every shade. This color very often looks trashy on long nails.

Besides, if you have short nails, consider yourself lucky, because you can proudly wear black nail polish and be sure that it suits you.

Creamy nail polish colors are perhaps an exception. They will always look great and natural on your nails regardless the length of your nails.

Remember, whatever suits, always looks fashionable, and if there’s a chance to look like a goddess during an evening party, it’s worth forgetting what the latest fashion trends are.
